List on Facebook Marketplace with Shipping in 2021

Do you sell items online for extra money? It’s a great way to declutter your home or make some extra side income. If you’ve sold on Facebook Marketplace before, you might remember when it was only for local sales. But now you can list items on Facebook marketplace with shipping options and give your items a better chance of selling! I will show you how to get started with listing on Facebook marketplace with shipping along with my favorite tool for listing items online.

Before I get started, I am excited to say that this blog post is sponsored by Vendoo. I have been using Vendoo for cross posting my items since 2019 and they are a perfect fit for this post because I use Vendoo to quickly copy my items over to Facebook Marketplace with very little effort. I’ll go a bit more into detail about that in a bit, first let’s go over how to get started listing items on Facebook Marketplace with shipping.

How to List on Facebook Marketplace with Shipping

The first thing you’ll need to do is set your account up for shipping through Facebook Marketplace. You can list items to sell locally instantly, but if you want to ship item through Facebook, you need to take a couple of extra steps to get set up. These directions are via a computer, not a phone or the Facebook app.

Step 1: Start listing your item on Facebook Marketplace

To do this, click the “Create New Listing” button in Marketplace and then select “Item for Sale

From there you’ll need to fill in all the fields. They’re pretty self explanatory so I don’t feel like I need to explain each one. Just go through them one by one. You’ll get faster at this the more you list.

As you’re building your listing, you’ll be able to see things in a preview on the right side.

Once you’ve filled out everything, click “Next” to go to the next section.

Step 2: Fill out your delivery method and set up shipping

The next page will be all about delivery. If you don’t have shipping set up, it will just be for local pick up. On this page, you’ll be able to put in your location and then set up to ship with Facebook.

There should be a button that says “Set Up Shipping”. Click this to begin the process of setting up selling on Facebook marketplace with shipping options.

You will need to provide:

  • Full Legal Name
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Bank account information

Once you have done this then you’re ready to start offering shipping on Facebook!

Facebook Shipping Options

On the “Delivery Method” section of your Facebook Marketplace listing, you will need to fill out the following:

Delivery method:

  • Shipping AND local pickup
  • Shipping only
  • Local pickup only

If you choose shipping you will need to fill out:

Shipping options:

  • Use your own shipping label (you will need to provide the tracking info)
  • Use a prepaid shipping label (print a label through FB marketplace)

If you use your own shipping label, you will need to provide the shipping rate.

If you choose to use a Facebook Marketplace shipping label, you will need to provide the weight of the package.

The current prices for shipping through Facebook Marketplace are:

  • $3.75 for less than ½ lb
  • $5.50 for ½ lb – 1 lb
  • $9 for 1 – 2 lb
  • $12 for 2 – 5 lb
  • $20 for 5 – 10 lb

What option you choose is up to you, but I usually just use the Facebook marketplace labels for simplicity.

Once you’ve figured out all of your shipping options click “next” and on the next page, you will decide if you want to accept lower offers.

Then click “next” again and you can go ahead and hit “Publish” to make your listing live on Facebook Marketplace with shipping!

The easiest way to list to Facebook Marketplace

If you’re a reseller who is adding Facebook Marketplace to the platforms you list your items on OR you’re newer to reselling and starting with Facebook Marketplace, but want to take your reselling business to the next level for more money then keep reading.

I highly recommend using Vendoo to list your items on Facebook Marketplace! I currently sell on Facebook Marketplace, but also on Ebay, Poshmark, and Mercari. By doing this, I’m able to get my items in front of more buyers and sell them faster, usually at a higher price because I’m not needing to clearance as many items that don’t sell right away.

Because I’m a big advocate for cross posting, or cross listing, I use Vendoo to cross post and keep track of all of the items I have for sale. Instead of posting items directly to any of the marketplaces, I post my items to Vendoo and then use Vendoo to quickly post them to all of the different marketplaces, including Facebook Marketplace!

It saves me so much time and is the only reason I’m able to post my items on FOUR different marketplaces. In May of 2021, I only listed 16 items and I sold 9 of them because I had them listed in several places rather than just relying on one.

Hi! I wondered what to do when FB Mktplace lists Free Shipping as an option? It seems like I’ve never seen it before. Are they having some sort of promotion right now? I used to sell on Marketplace, but haven’t for awhile and this post is JUST what I need as a reminder! Thank you for it! I’m a new fan. 😉
