7 Legit Side Hustles for Moms (That Aren’t MLMs or Surveys!)

Honestly, I’m sure we can all agree that being a mom is already a full-time job. The thought of adding something else to your plate might feel impossible, but here’s the thing: I’ve been a work-from-home mom since 2015, and girl, if I can do it? So can you!

The thing is, I wanted to stay home with him and contribute financially. Plus honestly? I wanted something for myself that I could be proud of that wasn’t just all about me being mom. I didn’t have a fancy business plan, just a few hours a day during nap time and after my baby went to bed and a willingness to figure it out.

Over the years, I’ve tried so many side hustles. Some were terrible, and some changed my life. Seriously!

The best part? There are plenty of legit ways to make money from home without sacrificing your time, your values, or your sanity. If you can carve out a little time here and there, there’s something on this list that can work for you.

And nope. No MLMs or spammy survey sites on this list!

Let’s look at the 7 side hustles I recommend most for moms.

1. Reselling

This is exactly how I got started back in 2015. I was a stay-at-home mom just decluttering and decided to list some stuff online. Baby clothes, books, old shoes and that very first month? I made over $1,100 in sales. I’m so serious! I was in shock too.

From there, it just grew. $2,400 my second month and $3,100 my third month. Now remember, these are sales, not profit, but the profit was really good too!

Reselling is simple: find items (from your home, thrift stores, yard sales, or clearance racks), list them online, and ship when they sell.

Now, I said simple, not easy. It does take work, but the best part is that it’s so flexible. Kids got the flu? That’s ok, you don’t have to list anything this week just mail out any order that come in and that’s the bare minimum.

Why it works for moms:

You can do this during naptime, in the evenings, or even while your kids are playing. It’s flexible and doesn’t require any special skills to start.

Where to sell:
Poshmark, eBay, Mercari, Facebook Marketplace

How to start:

2. Car Seat Cleaning (Yes, Really!)

I’ve been seeing this all over TikTok, and honestly? It makes so much sense. Do not come look at my carseats, I could totally use this service.

The thing is, parents want clean car seats, but most don’t want to (or know how to) take them apart and deep clean them. That’s where you come in!

Moms are out here charging $40–$50 per car seat, and it often takes about an hour or less per seat. Some are even offering drop-off services and many are cleaning multiple carseats at once since many families have more than one kid.

Why it works for moms:
You can clean car seats after bedtime. You only need a few basic tools to start, and word spreads fast among parents once you do a good job.

Helpful tools (Amazon affiliate links):

Pro tips: Start by offering your service in local Facebook mom groups or neighborhood apps. Look up the carseat manual for instructions on how to clean each particular seat to make sure you’re doing it safely.

3. Freelance Services

Freelancing is one of the most flexible ways to earn money as a mom. Whether you’re good at writing, organizing, customer service, or just being reliable, there are people willing to pay for help.

Examples of freelance gigs:

  • Virtual assistant
  • Blog post editing
  • Email management
  • Social media manager
  • Graphic design
  • Personal assistant

Where to find clients:

  • Upwork
  • Fiverr
  • Word of mouth (ask local businesses, post on your social channels, or network in Facebook groups)

Even if you just land one small client who needs a few hours of work per week, that’s consistent income you can build on!

4. Selling Digital Products

This is my personal favorite after reselling and one of the most scalable and low-stress ways to earn income from home. You create a product once, and it sells over and over again. No shipping, no inventory, no customer service stress.

I have one digital product I’ve sold hundreds of times!

What kind of digital products sell?

  • Printable planners or trackers
  • Chore charts
  • Budget spreadsheets
  • Wall art
  • Canva templates

Where to sell:

  • Etsy
  • Your own site (Shopify is great for this! That’s where I host my store)

Helpful tools (affiliate links):

  • Creative Fabrica for every graphic and design element you can think of
  • Canva Pro to easily create beautiful, printable products

Getting your first sales can take time, but once you know what you’re doing and you’re established, they can really just roll in!

5. Amazon Review Videos

If you are already buying stuff on Amazon (like most of us are way too often), why not use those items to make money?

Most people have heard about posting Amazon Affiliate links to earn a portion of any sales from people clicking, but you kind of need a following for that. What’s better and not as well-known? Amazon review videos!

You post short videos reviewing products you already own and use and earn a little bit each time someone buys after watching your review FROM THE AMAZON WEBSITE!

Why it works for moms:
You don’t need fancy gear to get started. Just good lighting (natural light works!), your phone, and something helpful to share.

Helpful tools (but optional):

To get started, you can apply here.

Start with what you already have around the house and record mini reviews. Even a 30-second video can earn you commissions over time! Seriously, even if you buy just 10 items a month on Amazon and make videos, that’s 240 videos you can be earning from by the end of 1 year!

6. TikTok Shop Product Videos

This one is super trending right now, and honestly, it’s way more doable than it sounds. You create short videos featuring products listed through TikTok Shop, and when someone buys through your video, you earn a commission.

A lot of moms are making extra cash just filming “mom hack” videos, toy demos, or kitchen gadgets they use every day. These video are usually less than a minute long and super casual. Videos don’t even have your face in them, hands-only works just fine!

Why moms love this:

  • You can film at home with your phone
  • Many brands are open to sending you free products once you have a small following
  • You can earn even with a small account
  • Once your videos are posted, they keep working in the background (they can blow up and start earning months down the line!)

What kinds of products work well?

  • Home items or cleaning gadgets
  • Viral kitchen finds
  • Organization tools
  • Kids’ activities or toys

To get started, just apply to be a creator directly in the TikTok app. They honestly have tons of info and even some tutorial videos, etc. to help you out.

Even just posting 2–3 videos a week can build up over time. Seriously! 2 videos a week and in 6 months you can have 50+ videos out there working for you. Not all of them will be big earners, but even if half of them bring in a few dollars a month, wouldn’t that be amazing?!

7. Start a Blog or YouTube Channel

I won’t lie, this one is more of a long-term hustle, but it can turn into serious income. If you love sharing about your life, tips, or hobbies, a blog or YouTube channel can become a platform that pays you back through ad revenue, affiliate links, product sales, and more. There are many ways to earn through this type of side hustle and you can pick and choose what works best for you.

Examples of blog topics:

  • Gluten free recipes for kids
  • Preschool activities using upcycled items
  • How to start a photography business
  • Backyard homesteading
  • Cleaning tips and guides

You create the content, find a way to drive traffic (google and Pinterest are my top traffic drivers for this blog), and then find ways to monetize that traffic whether it’s just ads or you want to sell digital products or link to affiliate products.

To start a blog get some cheap hosting, a domain, install WordPress, and get writing. I use SiteGround, which gives you a free domain and has a wordpress installer to make things easier.

To start on YouTube, just sign up over at YouTube.
